Here’s what changed this week in AI tools: pricing shifts, new features, and platform updates worth knowing about if you use AI in your marketing or content workflow.
Similarweb: 26% of ChatGPT answers now carry a sponsored ad
Similarweb launched an AI Ads data set on August 17 and reported that 26% of ChatGPT responses in the Free and Go tiers already include a sponsored ad, that nearly 30% of ad-eligible Google AI Mode queries show ads, and that more than 40% of Google searches trigger an AI Overview. If you have been treating AI assistants as a free discovery channel, that window is closing and paid inventory is showing up in the answers your customers read.

Omneky: you can now buy ChatGPT ads through a self-serve dashboard
Omneky announced on August 17 that customers can build and launch ChatGPT campaigns from its platform, alongside Meta, Google, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Reddit. You connect an OpenAI ad account, and the platform generates creative to ChatGPT specs, sets contextual targeting, and reports results next to your other channels. Worth a small test budget before CPMs on that inventory get competitive.

Adobe Firefly: AI music, voice, and sound effects come out of beta
Adobe made Generate Music, Generate Speech, and Generate Sound Effects broadly available in Firefly on August 20, putting audio in the same workspace as image and video tools. The music tracks are universally licensed, so you are not gambling on a copyright strike after you post. Generate Speech also lets you swap in ElevenLabs voices if you want more range than Adobe’s own model.

Google: an embeddable “Preferred Sources” button for your site
Google rolled out a button on August 20 that you can drop directly onto your own pages, letting readers mark you as a preferred source without leaving the site. Google says users are twice as likely to click through to a preferred source, and adoption jumped from 345,000 sources at launch to more than 600,000. If AI Overviews have been eating your organic traffic, this is a low-effort way to claw some of it back.

Higgsfield: $400M raise signals AI video volume is about to get cheap
The AI video and image platform raised a $400 million Series B on August 17 at a $5.4 billion valuation, with annualized revenue around $700 million and businesses making up most of it. Brands on these platforms are producing multiple campaign videos a day instead of one hero asset a quarter. Your constraint is shifting from production capacity to knowing which creative each channel actually rewards.

Meta AI: a Mac app that can see what is on your screen
Meta released a Mac app on August 20 with system-wide dictation and the ability to look at your current screen and answer questions about it. For content work, that means you can ask about a dashboard, a draft, or a design without copying anything into a chat window. Useful if you spend your day switching between tools and losing context each time.

OpenAI Sora: the API shuts down September 24, so migrate now
The consumer Sora app closed back in April, and the API follows on September 24, 2026. Anything in your stack calling sora-2, sora-2-pro, or the Videos API stops working that day. You have about a month to move those workflows to another video generator and export whatever you want to keep.
