Here’s what changed this week in AI tools: pricing shifts, new features, and platform updates worth knowing about if you use AI in your marketing or content workflow.
OpenAI: ChatGPT Images 2.5: sketch-to-image, templates, and 50% faster generation
OpenAI shipped a new image model on September 8 with up to 50% lower generation latency than Images 2.0, plus better multi-turn editing so a fix on turn four does not undo your work from turn two. Two features matter most for marketing teams: Sketch, which turns a rough drawing into a finished image, and Templates for common formats like posters, flyers, merch, and product photos. It is live for all ChatGPT and ChatGPT Work tiers on desktop, mobile, and web.

Google Analytics: Google Analytics launched drag-and-drop Dashboards
GA now has a grid-based canvas where you drag dimensions and metrics straight onto the page instead of building a separate report for every question. Six card types at launch: scorecards, tables, line charts, bar charts, donut charts, and funnel charts. If you build client dashboards in Looker Studio purely to make GA data readable, this may remove a step, though there is no API access and no segments yet.

Google Ads: Google is testing regular Search ads inside AI Mode
Google Ads Liaison Ginny Marvin confirmed a small experiment that lets exact and phrase match keywords serve text ads in AI Mode. That is a shift: until now, AI Mode placement effectively required AI Max or Performance Max. Eligibility is narrow for the moment, limited to queries where Google reads explicit and direct user intent, and Google has not said how wide the test runs.

Orbit Media survey: Content marketing results hit a 12-year low while AI use hit 92%
Orbit Media surveyed 1,042 content marketers and found only 14% say their blog delivers strong results, roughly half the 26% reported in 2022. AI adoption reached 92.4% with no measurable link to better outcomes, while average writing time fell from over four hours to 3 hours 20 minutes per post. The tactics that did correlate with success, notably collaborating with outside experts, have been quietly abandoned.

Google Ads data: Paid search queries are getting longer, and conversions are following
New agency data covering January 2025 through August 2026 shows impression share for one and two word queries fell from 42% to 24%, while three and four word queries climbed from 33% to 48%. Conversion share moved the same direction, with the three to four word bucket going from 20% to 46%. If your account is still weighted toward short head terms, the budget is sitting in the shrinking half.

ElevenLabs: Voice agents can now detect voicemail before they start talking
The September 7 release added Twilio answering machine detection to outbound calling, so an agent can either get an early human-or-machine verdict or wait for the voicemail greeting to finish before leaving a message. There are also new conversation filters and workspace-wide triage tickets for reviewing calls across every agent in an account. This is the practical stuff if you run AI voice follow-up on inbound leads.

OpenAI: OpenAI released an Agents API and a new real-time voice model
Two developer releases landed on September 10: the Agents API for building multi-step agents, and GPT-Live-1 for lower-latency voice experiences. Neither is a product you log into, but they are what the next wave of marketing tools will be built on, so expect the automation platforms you already pay for to ship agent features on top of this over the coming months.
