Here’s what changed this week in AI tools: pricing shifts, new features, and platform updates worth knowing about if you use AI in your marketing or content workflow.
Google Gemini: Skills Replace Gems
Google is swapping Gems for reusable slash-command Skills across the Gemini app and Workspace, rolling out October 5 to 13. If you keep brand voice or content instructions in Gems, plan to rebuild them as Skills. The format now matches Claude and ChatGPT, so your instructions can move between assistants.

OpenAI: Pro Plan Changes Land October 30
Starting October 30, the Pro 200 plan gets half the usage and a new Pro 500 plan arrives at $500 per month. If you lean on ChatGPT’s new always-on Dots agents or heavy daily use, check your usage now and budget for a higher tier. OpenAI also raised custom instructions from 1,500 to 5,000 characters, enough to fit a full brand voice guide.

Anthropic: Sonnet 5.5 Is Faster and Cheaper
Claude Sonnet 5.5 launched September 28 and is about 30% faster and 30% cheaper than Sonnet 5. If you run automations or agents for content and reporting, lower per-task costs make routine workflows easier to justify. A Haiku 5.5 model is expected soon.

Google Sheets: AI Canvas Builds Dashboards
Google Workspace added Sheets Canvas on October 1, which generates interactive dashboards and Kanban boards inside spreadsheets from plain-language descriptions. If you track campaigns in Sheets, you can now build a reporting view without a separate dashboard tool. Google also added a Pics image editor.

Meta: Muse Agent Targets Small Business
Meta’s Muse agent now connects to Asana, Canva, Figma, Notion, QuickBooks, Shopify, Slack, Stripe and Zoom. This matters if you run a small team and want one agent handling marketing, finance and store tasks. Meta also strengthened Muse’s safety warnings after a researcher found a data exposure issue, so review access permissions before connecting accounts.

Contentstack Canoe: Check If AI Engines Name Your Brand
Contentstack launched Canoe on October 1, a tool that drafts buyer questions and reports whether ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI engines mention your brand. There is a free tier, and the Growth plan is $279 per month. If AI search is cutting into your clicks, this gives you a starting point for tracking visibility.

LinkedIn: AI Rewrite Swapped for Post Proofreader
LinkedIn replaced its AI post rewriting feature with a Post Proofreader that suggests edits instead of rewriting your copy. If you publish B2B content there, expect the platform to favor posts that sound like a real person. Keep AI as an editor, not the author.
